Ontological classification of chemical patents
A first publication describing the classification of chemical patents using OntoChem's OCMiner® has appeared in the new journal Pharmaceutical Patent Analyst, 2013, 2, 2046, "Ontology-based content analysis of US patent applications from 2001-2010". Hierarchical concepts from the knowledge domains of chemical compounds, diseases and proteins were used to annotate full-text US patent applications that deal with pharmacological activities of chemical compounds and were filed in the years 2001-2010.

Automated extraction of structure-activity relationships from chemistry patents
At the Amercian Chemical Society meeting ("Hunting for hidden treasures: chemical information in patents and other documents") in Philadelphia, OntoChem presented the automated SAR extraction from patents. First, chemical information, including structures, compound classes, and biological effects, is extracted from patent text. Second, relationships about the compounds and effects are analyzed for their syntax. Last, the normalized relationship n-tuples are generated, and a structure activity relationship can be derived to fuel search engines.

PhytoBase® - Ontochem's comprehensive dynamic plant database
Ontochem GmbH is using its text analysis and knowledge mining technologies to retrieve information about plants, natural products that occur in these plants, their uses and biological activities, as well as molecular pathways including proteins and genes.
